Tactical Analysis

  • Guardians of the Flock: Shepherds are the basic frontline infantry of the IPDI. Clad in full body environmental suits, they are capable of operating in extremely hostile environments and take heavily reduced damage from NBC sources. They come equipped with optical equipment, which grants them fantastic sight range both in day and night conditions. Upgrading them with the SCR-21 Combat Rifle will greatly increase their damage and range, but slow down their reload and targeting timings.
  • Suppress and Bombard: Shepherds are well versed in their MX-15s, capable of putting precise shots on targets at long ranges. Their uncanny accuracy usually results in heavy suppression on enemy infantry, and also inflicts high damage to those unfortunate enough to be hit. Shepherds then use their "Silencer" nerve gas grenades to deal the finishing blow. While not immediately lethal, Silencers deal moderate damage over time. This damage is doubled against suppressed enemy units.
  • Outgunned: However, Shepherds do have several glaring weaknesses. Shepherds are unable to run as fast as most soldiers due to the weight of their gear. In addition, their armor is not very strong, and sustained anti-infantry fire will rout them. In addition, the Shepherds lack sustained damage, and will be outgunned in the event of them being unable to employ their "Silencers".
